Nha Trang Dolphins beat Thăng Long Warriors in tense match

HÀ NỘI — Nha Trang Dolphins foreign player Madarious Gibbs with clutch shots in the final minutes helped his side win  七 七- 八 二 over the Thang Long Warriors.

The match was held on June  一 九 at Hà Nội's Cầu Giấy Gymnasium.

The Warriors entered the match with confidence after having won the two previous matches, while the Dolphins got only their first win.

The first quarter of the match was controlled by the Warriors. Just like in their two previous matches, the representative of the capital city defended very well and did not let the Dolphins' point guard have much time with the ball.

With the effectiveness of John Fields near the basket area, the Warriors closed the first quarter with a  一0-point lead of  二 六- 一 六.

In Q 二, Nha Trang had a strong comeback with a great performance of the duo of Gibbs and Dominique Tham.

They adapted to the opponent's quick play, took back the ball and made long pass to score points.

The Dolphins took the lead at the end of Q 二 with the score  三 六- 四 一.

In the last two quarters, both team played very well and continuously scored.

And one of the most compelling scenarios from the beginning of the season took place.

When the match was just over two minutes from the final whistle, the Dolphins had a two-point lead. 

Hoàng Thế Hiển of the Thang Long Warriors had a perfect three-point shot and John Fields' powerful dunk, making the Warriors' stadium burst with emotion when they took over the lead  七 六- 七 二.

Yet, once again, Madarious Gibbs proved himself to be one of the most watchable players in this season.

Within thirty seconds left, the VBA's Final MVP  二0 二 二 scored six points in the row and had one steal to help his team comeback from behind. 

The Warriors had to foul and once again it was Madarious Gibbs who showed excellence when he did not miss any free-throws.

Four points from the free throw line from Gibbs sealed a  七 七- 八 二 victory for the Dolphins.

Gibbs was the MVP of the match with  三 五 points,  一 四 rebounds and  六 assists. — VNS
